NO SCHOOL JAN. 21 - School Improvement Day

January 2, 2019

Our next Parent Advisory and Site Council session will be held on Tuesday, January 22 from 6:00-7:15 pm at Hesston High School.

These meetings are opportunities for all parents and guardians of USD 460 students along with interested community members to gather, discuss and learn about our schools in Hesston.  We will meet for approximately 30-45 minutes as an entire district and then 30 minutes will be building-level discussions led by our principals.

On January 22, our district-wide conversation will center on two primary initiatives in USD 460 for the 2018-19 school year and in the years to come.  First, we will discuss the concept of Authentic Literacy and what this means for our students as they apply the skills and knowledge they learn inside and outside of our classrooms.  A second initiative we will discuss is Standards-Based Protocols, which is a way we promote high expectations for student learning and performance in USD 460.

We look forward to our conversation on January 22 and hope you can make it to HHS that evening.  If you plan to attend, please contact your child's school or feel free to contact our district office by calling 620-327-4931 or email ben.proctor@usd460.org.

Respectfully,

Ben Proctor
Superintendent

USD 460 is committed to a model of continuous improvement and growth.  This is best illustrated by our District Improvement Framework, which is a one page visual that includes the following components:

- Student Success Outcomes
- Beliefs and Practices
- Habits of Character and Scholarship

Ultimately, we want to further develop our focus on giving every single child every opportunity to become the very best of which he or she is capable.  To make that more than just words on a page is our challenge, and we have many foundational elements in place to ensure we are progressing towards success in each of our classrooms, across our buildings, and throughout our entire district.

There are ongoing opportunities for our entire school community to provide feedback on our goals and outcomes.  As is always the case, please contact me anytime should you have any questions or thoughts about this topic or anything we do as a school district in Hesston.

Respectfully,

Ben Proctor
Superintendent
